Private Pilot Ground School

Jet Air offers a comprehensive 35-hour private pilot ground school course for those interested in classroom-style ground training.

Our most recent course began January 12, 2012. Check this page for future course offerings or give us a call at 920-498-7466 if you are interested in signing up for the next class. We offer one-on-one ground training year-round for those who cannot attend the class.

COURSE FEE:
$375 including the Jeppesen Private Pilot Kit and one hour of flight simulator instruction
Course fee does not include the FAA Knowledge Test.

INSTRUCTORS:
Kate Bernard, CFII - B.S. in Flight Operations, University of Dubuque. Kate has over 2,500 flight hours and has been instructing since 2005. She taught ground school courses at UW-Fox Valley in Menasha for four years. Her ground school students have a 100% first-time FAA Knowledge Test pass rate.
Wayne Bushmaker, CFII - B.S. in Aeronautical Science, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Wayne began instructing with Jet Air in the summer of 2011.

ABOUT THE COURSE

This course teaches the knowledge subjects required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for private pilots. By taking this course, the student will gain an in-depth working knowledge of the fundamentals of aviation and become prepared to take the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test. The course serves as a foundation for private pilot flight training. Students may enroll in flight training any time before, during, or after this ground school course.

The course is relatively fast-paced with a different subject each week. If a student needs to miss a class, he or she should make up the session through one-on-one instruction. Students will need to devote significant home-study time to reading the Jeppesen Private Pilot Handbook and completing practice test questions in the Jeppesen FAA Knowledge Test Prep book.

At the end of the course, students who pass the final exam with a score of at least 80% will receive the endorsement required to take the FAA Private Pilot Knowledge Test.
